Turnover Rate Frequency of trading of assets in a portfolio, expressed as a percentage. Although there are many other things to consider, a high turnover rate and heavy trading can result in high transaction costs. Every time securities are bought and sold, the fund must pay commissions.
Weighted Average Maturity Used to describe the average time to maturity of bonds or other debt instruments in which a bond fund invests, weighted in proportion to the dollar value. For example, a bond fund with 50% of its assets invested in bonds that mature in five years and 50% of its assets invested in bonds that mature in six years has a weighted average maturity of <\n>5.5 years.
